The UNC women’s basketball program has lost a player to the transfer portal, as Destiny Adams announced she’ll be leaving the program.

We’ve heard plenty about the transfer portal surrounding the North Carolina men’s basketball team, but now the latest news regarding the portal involves the UNC women’s basketball program.

Sophomore Destiny Andams announced via her Instagram account that she’ll be entering the transfer portal. She leaves Chapel Hill after spending two seasons with the program.

Adams saw an increase in playing time as a sophomore, as her minutes jumped to over 17 minutes per game. Mostly in a reserve role, the Manchester Township, New Jersey native provided a spark off the bench, as her toughness was definitely beneficial in some key spots.

The reasoning behind why she decided to transfer is unknown. With a strong incoming freshman class coming in, maybe playing time or her future role may have had something to do with her decision, or maybe she just felt that she needed a change of scenery.

Regardless of the reason, Adams will have two seasons of eligibility to work with.

This is disappointing news for the UNC women’s basketball program, as Adams was developing nicely into her role for the team. We’ll have to wait and see if any other Tar Heels are set to follow her into the transfer portal, as the offseason is officially underway after the team’s loss to Ohio State in the NCAA Tournament on Monday afternoon.
