The UNC basketball program is set to lose yet another transfer, as rising senior Puff Johnson will explore other opportunities.

Another UNC basketball player is making his way to the transfer portal.

In what may be the most surprising of them all, Puff Johnson plans to enter the transfer portal. It was first reported by On3’s Joe Tipton.

Johnson took on a more expanded role off the bench during his junior season, as his minutes increased to almost 16 minutes per contest. In 27 games played, the Moon Township, Pennsylvania native averaged 4.1 points and 2.7 rebounds.

The story of Johnson’s time in Chapel Hill was dictated by injuries, as he struggled to stay healthy and on the court. Even though he was likely going to take on an even bigger role heading into his senior season, Johnson decided that it is in his best interest to pursue other opportunities.

What everyone feared is currently in process, as the UNC basketball program’s roster has a lot of uncertainty at this point in time. With four transfers (and possibly more) heading out the door, Hubert Davis and his staff have a lot of work to do in order to put together a strong roster heading into the 2023-2024 season.
