Since entering the transfer portal, former UNC basketball player Dontrez Styles has received plenty of interest from other Division I programs.
Earlier this week, Dontrez Styles entered the transfer portal, becoming the third UNC basketball player to do so since the season came to a close.
To no surprise, Styles has heard from multiple programs so far, especially one that won’t make Tar Heels fans very happy.

According to On3’s Jamie Shaw, Styles has heard from various programs, including ACC-rival NC State. West Virginia, LSU, and Providence are among the notable teams to express interest thus far.
Even though he struggled to find a role in the Tar Heels’ regular rotation, Styles still possesses a ton of upside. Not only is he a player who has multiple seasons of eligibility remaining, but is a physical player who could provide athleticism when on the floor.
NC State’s presence in his recruitment shouldn’t be a surprise, given that they were heavily involved the first time around. It also wouldn’t be a surprise to see Vanderbilt jump into the mix, as Styles played for former Tar Heel Jerry Stackhouse’s travel basketball program (as both are Kinston, North Carolina natives).
It’s still early in the process, and it’s expected that Styles will take his time to figure out his next landing spot. As one of the top-ranked transfers available, Styles will have plenty of options to choose from this offseason.
