UNC Basketball: Justin McKoy enters the transfer portal
The first UNC basketball player has hit the transfer portal this offseason, as Justin McKoy will be transferring as a graduate transfer.
Let the offseason officially begin.
The UNC basketball program has lost a player to the transfer portal, as Justin McKoy will be transferring as a graduate transfer.
After originally transferring to North Carolina from Virginia, McKoy’s time in Chapel Hill simply didn’t seem to go as planned. The Raleigh, North Carolina native struggled to find a permanent role off the bench, as he averaged just over six minutes per game over his 41 appearances as a Tar Heel.
With an extra year of college eligibility, McKoy will look to head elsewhere in hopes of finding more playing time. His departure was expected, as he participated in the team’s ‘senior night’ ceremony at the end of the regular season.
His last moment as a Tar Heel is one that fans will remember, as he made a highlight reel type of put-back dunk at the end of the team’s ACC Tournament victory over Boston College.
Although he struggled to find a role with the UNC basketball program, McKoy has the potential and ability to be a solid role player elsewhere if given the opportunity.
