Courtney Banghart and the UNC women’s basketball program have earned the No. 6 seed in the Seattle 3 Region for the upcoming NCAA Tournament.

The UNC women’s basketball program has made the NCAA Tournament, but the seedings did not work the way they intended it to.

With the hope of hosting, North Carolina did not earn the necessary top-four seed in their region, as they will be the No. 6 seed in the Seattle 3 Region.

The Tar Heels will begin their NCAA Tournament journey in Columbus, Ohio, as they await the winner of the Purdue and St. John’s.

If the Tar Heels win their first-round matchup, they’ll take on the winner of No. 3 seed Ohio State (the host team) and No. 14 James Madison. The region features some very good teams, including Virginia Tech (the top seed who the Tar Heels have seen already this season), UCONN, Tennessee, and Iowa State (who North Carolina defeated earlier in the year).

Regardless of who is in the bracket, Courtney Banghart and the UNC women’s basketball program will focus on one game at a time. After being snubbed from hosting, the Tar Heels have something to prove in this year’s tournament.
