UNC Basketball: Leaky Black on the verge of program history
Fifth-year senior Leaky Black is set to make UNC basketball program history on Saturday when he takes the court for the team’s regular-season finale.
Leaky Black will set a new UNC basketball program record on his senior night (and the final time he’ll play at the Dean Smith Center).
As the Tar Heels close out the regular season against rival Duke, Black will compete in his 153rd game as a North Carolina basketball player. This will pass Deon Thompson’s mark of 152 games, a record that has stood since 2010.
Black has been a steady presence in the Tar Heels lineup, as he’s played in at least 20 games in his five seasons and averaged more than 27 minutes a contest over the last four seasons.
He first made himself a name as a star on the defensive end of the floor, finding ways to lock down the opposing team’s top-scoring threats. This season, Black has emerged offensively, as he’s averaging a career-high 7.4 points per game.
Along with what he provides on the court, his leadership also stands out, as he’s a guy who does whatever it takes to help the UNC basketball program win games. He doesn’t always like to be in the spotlight, but this is something that certainly should be highlighted as he approaches his final home game of his Tar Heels career.
