The Atlantic Coast Conference has announced its annual regular season awards, as three UNC women’s basketball standouts earned All-ACC honors.

As the ACC women’s college basketball regular season has come to a close, the conference has announced its annual awards for the 2022-2023 campaign.

This year, three UNC women’s basketball standouts earned their way onto the All-ACC squads.

For the second consecutive season, Deja Kelly is a first-team All-ACC selection:

Kelly led the Tar Heels in scoring (and ranked fifth overall in the ACC), averaging 16.5 points per game. She turned it up a notch in conference play, as she averaged 17.1 points per game against ACC foes.

Not only is she a scorer, but is among the league leaders in assists (3.3) and assist-turnover ratio (1.3). After a stellar performance in the Phil Knight Invitational, Kelly earned MVP honors and has been named to both the Naismith Trophy Midseason Team and the Late Season Top 20 Watch List for the Wooden Award.

After earning second-team All-ACC honors a season ago, Alyssa Ustby is moving up the ranks:

Ustby does it all for the Tar Heels, as her presence was certainly missed when she was sidelined for five games toward the end of the regular season. During her junior season, Ustby ranked in the ACC’s top 10 in field goal percentage (third), rebounding (fourth), blocks (ninth), and steals (ninth). Her 13.2 points per game ranked as the third-best on the team and put her among the top 15 scorers in the conference.

Similar to Kelly, Ustby has also earned some award recognition this season. She was recently named Academic All-District honoree while also being selected to both the Naismith Trophy Midseason Team and to the Cheryl Miller Award Top 10.

For the first time in her UNC women’s basketball career, Kennedy Todd-Williams has earned her spot on an All-ACC team.

Todd-Williams was among this year’s second-team All-ACC selections. In a season in which the Tar Heels dealt with various injuries, Todd-Williams was the only player to start every single game.

The Jacksonville, North Carolina native improved tremendously this season, as she knocked down more three-pointers than she did in her first two collegiate seasons combined. She was second on the team in scoring and was 12th overall in the ACC.

Not only did she develop into one of the conference’s best three-point shooters, but is also recognized as one of the Tar Heels’ top defensive players.

The Tar Heels trio is more than deserving of this recognition, as they all played a major role in the team’s 20-win regular season. Although the honor is very noteworthy, it’s safe to say that this group aspires to accomplish much more before this season comes to a close.
