For her efforts both on and off the court, UNC women’s basketball standout Alyssa Ustby has earned Academic All-District honors.

Alyssa Ustby isn’t just a star on the basketball court for the UNC women’s basketball program.

In recognition of her academic and athletic success, Ustby has earned Academic All-District women’s basketball recognition. This was announced this week by the College Sports Communicators.

To qualify, nominees must be members of the sophomore, junior or senior class and have to hold a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.5. This goes in addition to their strong work on the basketball court.

Ustby is one of 10 Atlantic Coast Conference women’s college basketball players to earn this honor, as each student-athlete (including Ustby) is now officially in the running for Academic All-America honors. This year’s Academic All-American selections will be announced in March.

The Rochester, Minnesota native is currently in her junior year at North Carolina and is majoring in communication studies while minoring in business administration. She is coming off a fall semester in which she was named to the annual Dean’s List.

On the court for the UNC women’s basketball program, Ustby has been a vital piece to the team’s success. She has the ability to impact the game in various ways, as she ranks among the conference’s best players in some important statistical categories.

Ustby has earned plenty of on-the-court recognition, but it’s great to see her earn some for her success in the classroom as well.
