The UNC women’s basketball program bounced back in a big way, as they rolled past Wake Forrest at home on Sunday afternoon.

Behind a very strong performance from junior guard Deja Kelly, the UNC women’s basketball program rebounded from a weekday loss to NC State by rolling past Wake Forest on Sunday afternoon in Chapel Hill.

441. Final. 58. 448. 71

The Tar Heels, who were once again without Eva Hodgson and Alyssa Ustby, put together a complete team performance, as they connected on 50.8 percent of their shot attempts.

Trailing by three after one-quarter of play, North Carolina took control of the game in the second and third quarters.

After outscoring the Demon Deacons 23-17 in the second quarter, the Tar Heels dominated the third quarter as they went on a 16-6 run. With the two strong quarters of play, North Carolina built a lead that was too much for Wake Forest to handle.

As mentioned earlier, Kelly was once again the star for North Carolina. She not only scored a game-high 24 points but did a little bit of everything, as she recorded six assists, five rebounds, and two assists. Even when she wasn’t scoring, the junior guard was facilitating at a high level, helping find her teammates for open looks.

North Carolina received some steady contributions from multiple players, including Kennedy Todd-Williams (10 points, five assists, and three rebounds) and Anya Poole (eight points and five rebounds).

Destiny Adams filled up the stat sheet off the bench, as her 11 points were second-most on the team. With Kayla McPherson dealing with some heavy foul trouble, freshman Paulina Paris was a major boost, as she finished the afternoon with seven points, four rebounds, two assists, and two steals.

As we inch closer to the end of the regular season, the hope is that the Tar Heels will be at full strength in the very near future. However, it’s great to see that the UNC women’s basketball program has received strong contributions from a handful of players, as their depth has only grown since they’ve dealt with the injury bug.

This is a big week for the UNC women’s basketball program, as they finish the regular season with top-25 contests against Virginia Tech and Duke. Pulling off victories in both games could go a long way in not only helping the Tar Heels with their ACC Tournament seeding but put them in a position to potentially be a host in the upcoming NCAA Tournament.

Next. Another day, another UNC basketball letdown. dark
