UNC basketball star big man Armando Bacot was announced as one of the top 10 candidates for the annual Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Award.

Armando Bacot is no stranger to being a strong contender for some of the nation’s most prestigious awards.

Earlier in the week, the UNC basketball standout earned a spot on the National Player of the Year Midseason Team and followed it up with some more recognition on Friday.

Bacot is one of 10 players to be named as a candidate for the Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Center of the Year Award. In its ninth year, the award of course is aimed to honor the nation’s top center in Division I men’s college basketball.

Student-athletes can play their way on or off the list at any given point during the 2022-2023 season, but the group selected has proved all year that they are more than deserving of this consideration.

For Bacot, not many big men can say that they’ve had more success this season.

His senior season has been very memorable, as he’s not only led this year’s Tar Heels squad but has also made some program history in the process. Before his time with the UNC basketball program comes to an end, Bacot has more unfinished business to take care of, as he hopes to end his tenure with a national championship victory.

Below are the candidates who join Bacot on the top 10 list for the Kareem Abdul Jabbar Award.
