The UNC football schedule for the 2023 season has officially been released! Who will the Tar Heels match up with this fall?

It will be a new look for the Atlantic Coast Conference this upcoming football season.

Instead of holding two divisions, the 14 teams in the conference will compete in a single division, as the top two squads will ultimately meet in the ACC title game. The schedule will feature a 3-5-5 format, which means that each program will have three permanent rivals along with five opponents that will alternate on a year-to-year basis.

Prior to the schedule’s release, Mack Brown was not a fan of the UNC football program’s schedule. He had this to say about the details of his team’s upcoming slate:

After seeing how the schedule played out, you can see why the Tar Heels head coach is not pleased with it, especially at the end of the regular season.

UNC Football 2023 Regular Season Schedule

September 2 – UNC versus South Carolina (Charlotte)
September 9-App State at UNC
September 16 – Minnesota at UNC
September 23 – UNC at Pittsburgh
September 30 – Open
October 7 – Syracuse at UNC
October 14 – Miami at UNC
October 21- Virginia at UNC
October 28- UNC at Georgia Tech
November 4- Campbell at UNC
November 11- Duke at UNC
November 18- UNC at Clemson
November 25- UNC at NC State

Now that it’s released, the final two weeks of the season are what Brown was most likely referencing. The Tar Heels will finish the season on the road with back-to-back contests against Clemson and NC State, both very difficult games to say the least.

However, you have to beat everyone regardless of how the schedule falls, am I right?

North Carolina will open up the season with a neutral site contest against South Carolina. After two non-conference games at Kenan Stadium, the Tar Heels will begin conference play at Pittsburgh.

Following a bye week, North Carolina plays three consecutive league games at home, as they’ll host Syracuse, Miami, and Virginia.

Senior Night is expected to be November 11, as the UNC football program hosts rival Duke. That will lead to the team’s final stretch of the season against two very good opponents.

We know now who the Tar Heels will battle against (and when) during the 2023 season. The question remains: how many days until kickoff?!
