To no surprise, UNC basketball standout big man Armando Bacot has earned a spot on the Wooden Award Late Season Watch List.

On Monday night, the Wooden Award announced its list of 20 players that have been named to the award’s late-season watch list.

Of course, UNC basketball standout Armando Bacot has earned a spot on the list.

Bacot has once again been a dominant force for North Carolina this season, as he’s averaging 17.9 points and 11.4 rebounds per game. He has made plenty of UNC basketball history during his senior season, as he set the program record for most double-doubles (previously held by Billy Cunningham) and also surpassed Tyler Hansbrough as the school’s all-time leading rebounder.

The Wooden Award stands as one of the most prestigious honors in college basketball, as it is annually presented to the nation’s top men’s and women’s basketball players. Bacot is definitely a strong contender for the award, as his resume simply seems to speak for itself.

Unfortunately, teammate Caleb Love did not make this cut, as he was included in the midseason top 25 list. Love has struggled over the last few weeks offensively, which could have factored into him not making the updated list.

However, it’s still very good to see that Bacot is still very much in the mix, as the next couple of weeks will determine if he can hold onto a spot prior to the award being given out at the season’s end.
