In a crazy turn of events, the UNC basketball program has earned a commitment from Class of 2024 five-star guard Ian Jackson.

When five-star Ian Jackson announced that he was ready to make his final college decision, many projected that the Class of 2024 standout was Lexington, Kentucky bound.

However, that’s fortunately not the case, as Jackson is making his way to Chapel Hill!

Jackson becomes the fourth player in the Class of 2024 to commit to the UNC basketball program, as his commitment followed suit to the speculation that led up to his decision.

Throughout the day on Monday, a handful of college basketball recruiting analysts flipped their predictions in favor of the Tar Heels, and although there wasn’t much news out of Jackson’s camp, it ended up working out well for North Carolina.

Another New York native heading to Chapel Hill, Jackson is currently viewed as the No. 2 overall player in the Class of 2024, according to 247Sports Composite. The top-ranked player out of the state of New York picked the Tar Heels over Kentucky, Arkansas, Oregon, and LSU.

Already viewed as the No. 1 overall recruiting class up to this point, the Tar Heels Class of 2024 talent continues to grow. They now have TWO of the top-10 ranked players in this class, and four of the top 50 overall players.

The timing of the decision was also fitting, given Jackson visited Chapel Hill last weekend. It’s now safe to say that the five-star guard was rather impressed with his time on the campus of North Carolina.

Needless to say, Hubert Davis and his staff are doing a daggum job on the recruiting trail!
