It’s Friday! Let’s wrap up the work week by discussing some important North Carolina Tar Heels news and notes from the past few days.

Ah, another work week is almost in the books, as we’re already almost halfway through the first month of the new year!

After taking some time to enjoy my birthday on Thursday, I’m back, refreshed, and better than ever. I wish I could provide the UNC basketball program with some health, as the Tar Heels could definitely use a healthy Armando Bacot and Pete Nance!

So, what’s going on in the world of the North Carolina Tar Heels? Let’s start with Courtney Banghart and the UNC women’s basketball program, as they are coming off a pretty big win on Thursday night.

The Comeback Heels

The UNC women’s basketball program did it again, as they erased a 9-point fourth-quarter deficit to defeat Virginia in a true road ACC contest.

Kennedy Todd-Williams put together a stellar performance, as she posted a career-high 21 points. Todd-Williams, along with fellow junior standouts Deja Kelly and Alyssa Ustby, combined for 57 of the Tar Heels’ 70 total points.

Dre Bly sends a message to Tar Heel nation

After four years of coaching with the UNC football program, Dre Bly will not be on the team’s staff moving forward.

Even though it didn’t pan out for one of the most beloved former Tar Heels, Bly still has plenty of love for the University of North Carolina. Here’s his official statement regarding the situation:

So… What’s the lineup for Saturday?

The UNC basketball program will take on Louisville on Saturday, and could very well be short-staffed once again.

Not only may Armando Bacot not play, but Pete Nance might not be available once again as well. If both main frontcourt pieces aren’t able to go, how will Hubert Davis handle his rotation, most notably his starting lineup?

There are a few options he could explore. First, they could simply insert Justin McKoy or Jalen Washington into the lineup and keep the other four (Love, Davis, Trimble, and Black) the same. Another way they could handle it is by starting Puff Johnson at the four to go along with Love, Davis, and Black (and whichever player ends up handling the five).

Ideally, Nance’s return would be huge. At this point, I wouldn’t expect Bacot to play, but until both players are healthy, the UNC basketball program will simply have to be creative with regards to their rotation management.
