As we hit the midway point of the week, North Carolina Tar Heels fans wait for hopefully some good news regarding injuries and recruiting.

Tuesday night definitely did not go as planned for the UNC basketball program, as they not only suffered a tough loss to No. 13-ranked Virginia but star big man Armando Bacot was injured within the first two minutes of the game.

Over the next few days, North Carolina Tar Heels fans will hold their breath as they await more information regarding Bacot’s status, until then, let’s take a look at some other North Carolina news.

Big Recruiting News Coming

On Wednesday, Class of 2024 five-star Trentyn Flowers is expected to announce his top five or six finalists in his recruitment.

The announcement is expected around 1:00 PM EST, and the Tar Heels hope they are still in the mix once it’s made.

The Jalen Washington first-half party

With the Tar Heels missing both Bacot and Pete Nance, it was freshman Jalen Washington that was essentially thrown into the fire.

When thrown into a tough predicament, Washington stepped up to the occasion.

Washington scored 12 first-half points, as he played a huge role in helping the Tar Heels hold the lead at the half. Although he did struggle a bit defensively (which should be expected given his lack of experience to this point), you have to be very encouraged by his performance in a much-needed spot.

After that performance, Jalen Washington showed first-hand how bright his future is in Chapel Hill.

Other North Carolina Tar Heels News

Another legendary North Carolina coach has called it quits, as UNC Volleyball coach Joe Sagula announced his retirement after 33 seasons leading the program.

The winningest coach in ACC history, Sagula led the Tar Heels to seven ACC Championships and 15 NCAA Tournament appearances. He was also elected to the North Carolina Volleyball Hall of Fame.
