The UNC football program received some good news, as one of their standout offensive linemen will return for the 2023 season.

On Monday morning, UNC football head coach Mack Brown spoke to the media. The long-time NCAA head coach spoke about various topics, including the transfer portal as well as some updates regarding players on the current roster.

One of the updates surrounded Corey Gaynor, the veteran offensive lineman who earned All-ACC Honorable Mention in his lone season as a Tar Heel. He started all 14 games last season and played every single meaningful snap for the Tar Heels’ offense, as he quickly rose as a leader on last year’s squad.

Fortunately, North Carolina will get Gaynor back, as Brown announced that he will return for the 2023 season.

This is great news for the UNC football program, as one of its most reliable offensive linemen will be back for another season. Gaynor will once again anchor the Tar Heels unit up-front, as the team hopes to not only protect star quarterback Drake Maye, but improve the running game heading into next season.

With Gaynor back for another year, the Tar Heels are expected to have three of their five offensive line starters back from a season ago. His return also will allow the UNC football program to utilize transfer Willie Lampkin at another position, as he’ll likely be called upon to fill one of the two voids.
