After entering the transfer portal, former UNC football player Cam’Ron Kelly has decided to transfer to another ACC program.

Cam’Ron Kelly will be staying in the ACC, but won’t be playing for the UNC football program next season.

The Chesapeake, Virginia native will return home, as he has announced that he will transfer to the University of Virginia. This will be his third stop in his college career, a journey that began at Auburn, was spent mostly in Chapel Hill and will finish in his home state.

Over four seasons at North Carolina, Kelly played in 42 games. He earned third-team All-ACC honors for the 2021 season, a season in which he was tied for the most interceptions in the conference (four).

During the 2022 season, Kelly recorded 49 total tackles and an interception in 12 games played. He ends his Tar Heels career with 180 tackles to go along with five interceptions.

Kelly will look to help add depth to Virginia’s secondary, a unit that took a rather big hit from some key players leaving the program for the NFL Draft or through the transfer portal. He’ll look to use his experience, especially within the conference, to help Virginia’s defense during the 2023 season.

In case you were wondering, Virginia is expected to visit North Carolina this coming season, so Kelly will have one more chance to play in Chapel Hill before his college career comes to an end.
