The struggles continue for the UNC women’s basketball program, as they dropped their fourth consecutive game on Thursday night.

It’s been quite a tough stretch for Courtney Banghart and the UNC women’s basketball program, as they’ve now lost four straight after starting the 2022-2023 season winning 9 of their first 10 contests.

The latest loss comes at the hands of the Miami Hurricanes, who defended their home court with a four-point victory on Thursday evening.

Some of the same issues we’ve seen from this team showed up again, as the offense was too reliant on three-point shooting. The Tar Heels made just eight of their 27 attempts from deep, as at times it feels as if they are forcing up bad shots instead of taking the ball to the basket.

Deja Kelly reached a personal milestone, joining the 1,000 career point scorers club. She finished the night with a game-high 19 points, as a strong second half from the junior guard helped keep the Tar Heels in the game.

For Miami, Haley and Hanna Cavinder played big roles in the victory. Haley scored a team-high 16 points, while Hanna came off the bench and contributed 9 points of her own as she knocked down three big three-point field goals.

With 1:28 left, Kelly was fouled after making a three-pointer. After draining the free throw, the Hurricanes’ lead was down to two, but that is how close it would ultimately get.

This one goes down as another frustrating loss for Banghart’s team, as they drop to 0-3 in ACC play. Unfortunately, it doesn’t get easier from here, as they’ll return home to host No. 4-ranked Notre Dame on Sunday afternoon.
