Spoiled Coach K’s Retirement Party in Durham!

Throughout the entire 2021-2022 season, Tar Heels fans had to hear constantly about the retirement tour of Duke head coach Mike Krzyzewski.

On March 5, 2022, North Carolina had an opportunity to spoil the party, and boy did they do that!

In Coach K’s final home game as Duke’s head coach, the Tar Heels upset the No. 4 ranked Blue Devils 94-81.

Four Tar Heels starters scored 20 points or more, including Armando Bacot, who led the way with a game-high 23 points. With dozens of former Blue Devils in the house and a packed crowd in Durham, Coach K’s final night on the sidelines at Cameron Indoor Stadium is one that was certainly tarnished by the Tar Heels.

At the time, Coach K didn’t realize that the Tar Heels would have one more retirement gift for him before his coaching career came to an end.
