North Carolina Tar Heels: The best memories of 2022
The Tar Heels have a star in centerfield
For most freshmen, it takes some time to acclimate to the college game.
For Vance Honeycutt, it didn’t take long for him to burst onto the scene.
Honeycutt was the catalyst for this year’s Tar Heels squad, as he finished the season hitting .296 with 25 home runs, 57 runs batted in as well as 29 stolen bases. He set the UNC baseball program’s single-season record for home runs and became the first freshman in program history to hit 20 home runs in a single season.
Not only did he become a brand name in Chapel Hill, but he also quickly earned national recognition. He was named third-team All-American by Baseball America, D1 Baseball, and Perfect Game while being a consensus freshman All-American. Honeycutt earned third-team All-ACC honors and took home MVP honors for the ACC Tournament.
Forbes and the UNC baseball program have an absolute stud in centerfield, as many are excited to see what he has in store for his sophomore season.
