WATCH: UNC Football’s Power Echols makes interception of the YEAR!
At the end of the first half of the Holiday Bowl, UNC football standout Power Echols made a highlight-reel interception that you must see!
Towards the end of the first half of the Holiday Bowl, the Oregon Ducks offense was driving efficiently down the field.
Looking for a stop, the UNC football program’s defense came up with a huge play, courtesy of Power Echols.
Now, if you haven’t seen the play yet, we suggest you watch the following video a few times!
On a deflected pass, Echols, who was a trailing defender, was able to haul in the interception, as a deflection off his right foot helped keep the football in the air long enough for him to secure the ball. Once he gained control, Echols was off to the races, setting up the Tar Heels with great field possession.
Fortunately, North Carolina capitalized on the turnover, as Drake Maye connected with Kobe Paysour on the following play for a score to give the Tar Heels a lead they’d take into the half.
Not only was the play a huge momentum shift for the UNC football program, but also should easily be in contention for interception of the year.
The play was improbable in itself, but Echols, courtesy of a friendly bounce off his foot, made it happen. We may sound bias, but that play should easily be among SportsCenter’s Top 10 plays of the night!
