For the first time in 20 days, the UNC basketball program will play a game in Chapel Hill, as they’ll host Georgia Tech in their first home ACC contest.

Ah, there’s no place like home!

6-3. 436. ESPN. 5-4. 3:15 PM EST. Saturday, December 10, 2022. 441.

The UNC basketball program will play a game at the Dean Smith Center for the first time in 20 days, as they host Georgia Tech in its ACC home opener on Saturday afternoon.

North Carolina has been idle since Sunday, as student-athletes focused on finals week. Now that the final exams are officially over, it’s time to return to the court, as Hubert Davis’ team will look to end its four-game skid.

This would be a great time for the Tar Heels to end their recent struggles, as they’ll play four games over the next 11 days. The hope is that the few days off will be beneficial for a team that could really use a reset.

Key to Victory for North Carolina

Play Hard. Play Smart. Play Together.

The phrase we’ve heard for many years around the UNC basketball program.

To get out of this slump, this talented group of players must live by this motto, especially the play-together portion of it.

The Tar Heels need to do a better job of playing team basketball. No single player is going to win games. Instead, they must rely on the abundance of talent that they have to work together towards the same goal.

When that happens, this team has what it takes to be one of the nation’s best.

Something to Watch For

Armando Bacot’s status is up in the air, which will be an important storyline heading into Saturday afternoon’s contest.

Bacot isn’t the only UNC basketball big man to keep an eye on heading into this one.

In his press conference on Friday afternoon, Hubert Davis noted that he “wouldn’t be surprised” to see Jalen Washington make his anticipated Tar Heels debut.

We could be seeing the first of Washington in a UNC basketball uniform, as his presence should provide some much-needed depth in the frontcourt, especially with Bacot not fully 100 percent.

Last Meeting

On January 15, 2022, the UNC basketball program defeated Georgia Tech in a convincing fashion at the Dean Smith Center.

In the 88-65 victory, Armando Bacot and RJ Davis combined for 50 total points on 18-27 shooting. North Carolina also got double-digit performances from Caleb Love (14 Points) and Brady Manek (11 points).
