The UNC football program’s secondary takes yet another hit, as Storm Duck has decided to enter his name into the transfer portal.

Another day, another member of the UNC football program’s secondary entering the transfer portal.

Storm Duck becomes the latest Tar Heel to join the list, as he’ll look to utilize his final season of college eligibility elsewhere.

Duck is coming off a strong senior season, as he earned second-team All-ACC honors. He finished the 2022 season with 46 tackles, one tackle for loss, one forced fumble, and three interceptions to go along with 9 pass breakups.

After making an immediate impact as a freshman, Duck’s sophomore and junior seasons were hampered by injuries. He was finally able to stay healthy throughout the regular season, but an injury on Senior Day against NC State forced him to miss the ACC championship contest against Clemson.

The secondary has taken the biggest hit for the UNC football program early on in the transfer portal. Along with the loss of Duck, the likes of Tony Grimes and Cam’Ron Kelly (among others) will be looking for new homes over the next few weeks.

It will be interesting to see what Mack Brown and company do to fill the void moving forward. As they look towards the future, they’ll also have to prepare the remaining secondary members for the team’s upcoming bowl game.
