Even with all the players (and coaches) leaving the UNC football program, standout quarterback Drake Maye confirmed that he’s here to stay.

It’s been a stressful few days for the UNC football program (and its fans!).

For starters, the transfer portal has done a toll on the team’s roster, especially in the secondary.

On Wednesday, it was announced that offensive coordinator Phil Longo was set to leave to become the Wisconsin Badgers’ offensive coordinator.

Of course, there’s been speculation regarding the future of redshirt freshman Drake Maye. Would Maye stay at the school that holds his family’s legacy, or will he leave to pursue other (more lucrative) opportunities elsewhere?

Fortunately for Tar Heels fans, Maye is here to stay!

How do we know? Well, Maye confirmed it himself with posts on social media.

This is obviously great news for the UNC football program, as Maye’s return will be a major factor for the Tar Heels heading into next season. Not only is having him in the mix enticing for potential recruits and transfers but for possible offensive coordinators as well.

Think about it: what offensive coordinator wouldn’t love the chance to take over the job with a potential first-round pick (and possibly the top quarterback on NFL Draft boards) calling the shots?

To us, that seems pretty enticing!

Now with Maye’s future settled, we can all breathe a sigh of relief. We now know that we’ll at least have one more season of Drake Maye in Chapel Hill.
