Add another UNC football player to the transfer portal, as defensive back Dontavius Nash announced he will be leaving the program.

Not even a full day after their ACC Championship game loss to Clemson, the UNC football program has already lost a handful of players to the transfer portal.

Quarterback Jacolby Criswell and linebacker RaRa Dillworth announced their decisions on social media, and Dontavius Nash followed suit as well.

Nash has spent the last two seasons with the UNC football program and is considered to be a redshirt freshman.

During his true freshman season in 2021, Nash appeared in four games as a defensive back and a special teams player. In his limited action, the Gastonia, North Carolina native recorded one tackle.

In his second season on campus, Nash once again struggled to earn playing time. He appeared in just five games, recording two solo tackles.

Similar to the other players who have entered the transfer portal thus far, it’s likely that Nash is looking for an opportunity to earn more playing time.

It was expected that the transfer portal would impact next year’s roster, as this is a common trend that is impacting programs across the country. Unfortunately for the UNC football program, they are losing some quality players who could have potentially made an impact at some point over the next few seasons.

Next. RaRa Dillworth to enter transfer portal. dark
