Courtney Banghart and the UNC women’s basketball program are now ranked among the top 10 teams in the latest AP Top 25 poll.

Last week, it was a bit of a surprise to see the UNC women’s basketball program drop a spot in the AP Top 25 poll.

Starting the season at No. 12, Courtney Banghart’s team slipped to No. 13 a week ago, even after a very solid start to the season.

Now, sitting at 4-0 on the early season, the Tar Heels are now among the top ten teams in the entire country.

In the latest rankings, North Carolina comes in at No. 8. They were one of the biggest risers this week, as they moved up five spots from a week ago.

This is the first time that the UNC women’s basketball program has ranked in the top ten since the 2014-2015 season. The Tar Heels were ranked as high as No. 6 that season, as they ultimately ended the year as the No. 15 overall team in the country.

For North Carolina, this goes to show how the program is trending in the right direction. Banghart and the Tar Heels have put themselves in a position to be regarded as one of the top teams in the country, as they continue to prove it every time they take the court.

The upcoming week will be a challenge for the Tar Heels, as they’ll head to Portland for the Phil Knight Invitational. An anticipated matchup with No. 18 Oregon awaits them on Thanksgiving evening and will be followed by a matchup against either Iowa State or Michigan State just two days later.
