On Tuesday night, UNC basketball standout Leaky Black is expected to reach a personal milestone in his collegiate career.

In the current landscape of college basketball, it’s often times that players don’t tend to stay long at their respective schools.

The “one-and-done” era has provided student-athletes to jump to the professional level after just one season, completely changing the narrative of what we were all so accustomed to seeing.

However, there are always some exceptions, as some fan-favorites stay for more than just a single season.

UNC basketball standout Leaky Black is a perfect example of this. The fifth-year senior has elected to take advantage of his extra season of eligibility, as he’s become a household name in Chapel Hill.

As the Tar Heels take the court on Tuesday night against Gardner-Webb, Black is expected to reach a personal milestone. The Concord, North Carolina native will play in his 125th game as a Tar Heel and is projected to make his 100th career start in the process.

Black doesn’t necessarily get the attention of some other North Carolina players, but his role in this program is one that holds a great amount of importance. He’s developed into one of the best defensive players in the entire country and is defined by many in the UNC basketball program as a “Swiss Army Knife,” as he’s capable of doing a little bit of everything on the basketball court.

As he prepares for this milestone start, it’s a great opportunity to remember how important Leaky Black has been to the UNC basketball program during his time in Chapel Hill. He’ll continue to play a major role for the Tar Heels as they aim for some redemption during the rest of the 2022-2023 season.
