It was a team effort for the UNC Women’s basketball program on Saturday afternoon, as they defeated TCU at Carmichael Arena.

Courtney Banghart and the UNC women’s basketball program only had 9 players suited up for Saturday’s game against TCU.

Although they were missing a few players due to injury, the Tar Heels received contributions from every player suited up, which went a long way in helping secure the team’s second victory of the season.

North Carolina had five players in double-figures, including juniors Kennedy Todd-Williams and Alyssa Ustby who led the Tar Heels with 14 points apiece.

As Ustby is still on a minutes limit as she works back from a previous injury, it’s notable how North Carolina is a much better team when she’s on the floor. She made her presence known throughout her 18 minutes of action.

You simply can’t talk about this victory without mentioning Destiny Adams. The sophomore from Manchester, New Jersey tied a career-high with 10 points off the bench, as she also recorded seven rebounds in this impressive performance.

The UNC women’s basketball program did struggle a little offensively, as they had an eight minute stretch in which they didn’t record a single field goal. However, the defensive effort was outstanding overall, as TCU shot just 25 percent from the floor.

Deja Kelly did not have her best shooting performance (4-12), but she impacted the game in other ways. She flirted with a triple-double, as she scored 12 points and recorded seven assists and six rebounds.

All nine Tar Heels scored in this one, as a dominant third quarter (in which North Carolina out scored TCU 27-6) put the game out of reach.

The UNC women’s basketball program will return to the court on Wednesday morning, as they’ll host South Carolina State at Carmichael Arena. Tip-off is scheduled for 11 AM EST.
