UNC Basketball: RJ Davis Opening Night Status Determined
Heading into the UNC basketball program’s season opener, the status of junior guard RJ Davis has officially been determined.
RJ Davis was sidelined for the UNC basketball program’s lone exhibition game due to a hand injury.
Although the injury didn’t appear to be serious in nature, it was certainly a cause for concern for the Tar Heels heading into opening night.
Hours before Monday night’s opening tip-off, Davis’ status was officially determined, as the junior guard will suit up against UNC Wilmington.
Jon Rothstein was the first to confirm this report, as a school spokesman stated that Davis would be on the court to begin the 2022-2023 season. This was the expected outcome, especially after head coach Hubert Davis spoke to the media a few days ago, but it’s always good to have the official word that confirms the good news.
Davis is coming off a season in which he averaged 13.5 points and 4.3 assists per game. He will once again be called upon to be a major contributor to a Tar Heels team that has aspirations of being the last team standing at the end of the NCAA Tournament.
Davis and the Tar Heels will kick off the 2022-2023 season with their non-conference matchup against UNCW. Tonight’s contest will tip-off at approximately 9:00 PM EST, and the game will be televised live on the ACC Network.
