UNC Football: Josh Downs lands NIL deal with Outback Steakhouse
UNC football standout wide receiver Josh Downs becomes the latest Tar Heel student-athlete to partner up with Outback Steakhouse.
Throughout the early stages of the new world of Name, Image & Likeness (NIL), Outback Steakhouse has been more than willing to partner with some of the University of North Carolina’s best student-athletes.
First, the popular steakhouse partnered with Caleb Love and Deja Kelly, two of the school’s most prominent athletes on the basketball court.
Now, the company is turning its attention to the gridiron, where it has reached an agreement with a UNC football standout to help launch its new campaign.
Outback Steakhouse is set to launch its “Steak It To The House” campaign. Through its TeamMATES program, Outback will bring new promotions, collectibles, and benefits that fans will be able to enjoy all season long.
The company has expanded its roster, as star wide receiver Josh Downs is among the latest additions to the TeamMATES roster. Here’s a full list of student-athletes who have earned partnerships with Outback:
· Jaydon Hodge | Bethune-Cookman University | Defensive Back
· Dematrius Davis Jr. |Alabama State | Quarterback
· Josh Downs | University of North Carolina | Wide Receiver
· Justin Shorter | University of Florida | Wide Receiver
· Beaux Collins | Clemson University | Wide Receiver
· Sean Tucker | Syracuse University | Running Back
· Errington Truesdell | Vanderbilt University | Linebacker
· KD Hill | University of Mississippi | Defensive Tackle
· Jake Bobo | University of California, Los Angeles | Wide Receiver
Outback continues to expand its brand, as they’ve already partnered with over 80 student-athletes that are enrolled at 38 different schools. Their partnership deals also cover 15 different NCAA-sanctioned sports.
Downs has become one of the best wide receivers in college football, as he continues to thrive in the UNC football program’s offensive scheme. As his star continues to grow, it makes sense that a company such as Outback would want to partner with him, as he’s a very notable name with a rather big following.
Based on what we’ve already seen, don’t be surprised if more Tar Heels end up partnering with Outback Steakhouse in the future. After Love, Kelly, and Downs earned their respective deals, it isn’t out of the question to ask: which Tar Heel is next?!
