UNC Basketball: Armando Bacot tabbed as AP Preseason All American
Heading into the 2022-2023 season, UNC basketball standout Armando Bacot has been selected as an AP Preseason All-American.
With just two weeks remaining until the UNC basketball program begins its regular season, standout senior big man Armando Bacot continues to bring in preseason recognition.
His latest honor comes from the Associated Press, as he’s been tabbed as a Preseason All-American.
This year’s selections are no surprise, given that the five players have been featured on many preseason lists prior. Along with Bacot, Oscar Tshiebwe, Drew Timme, Marcus Sasser, and Trayce Jackson-Davis round out the rest of this year’s Preseason All-American list.
Bacot returns to Chapel Hill after putting together one of the most productive seasons of any big man in UNC basketball history.
During his junior season, the 6-foot-11 big man averaged 16.3 points and 13.1 rebounds per game while shooting 56.9 percent from the floor. His postseason success was crucial for the Tar Heels, as his six double-double performances played a major role in the team’s run to the national championship contest.
Heading into his senior season, the spotlight is on Bacot, as he hopes to lead the UNC basketball program to another national championship. One of the major reasons why Bacot returned to college was to earn some redemption after last season, as the returners from last year’s squad have some unfinished business left to take care of.
Bacot and the UNC basketball program will begin their 2022-2023 slate with a non-conference battle against UNCW at the Dean Smith Center in Chapel Hill on November 7.
