The UNC football program will be bringing back an old look as they take on Duke in a big ACC contest on Saturday night in Durham.

When the UNC football program travels to Duke on Saturday night, the players will be wearing helmets that we haven’t seen in quite some time.

On social media, the program announced that the chrome helmets will be making a special appearance as the Tar Heels take on the Blue Devils in a very important ACC contest. This will mark the first time that the helmets will be in use since North Carolina defeated then-ranked No. 25 Duke 45-20 back during the 2014 season.

Of course, Mack Brown and the Tar Heels hope that they find the same success in these helmets as they did eight years ago. If they can pull off the victory in Durham, it would not only move them to 3-0 in conference play, but would put them in a good position to compete for the Coastal division title.

It goes without saying: there’s just something different about the Carolina blue. The school is already known for having some of the best uniform combinations in the entire country, and it only adds to that by bringing the chrome helmets back into the mix.
