Now that the “Bye Week” is over, the UNC football program is ready to focus its attention on the Notre Dame Fighting Irish.

Fans of the UNC football program: we survived the “Bye Week.”

As we enjoyed our Saturday afternoon watching mostly blowout contests, the Tar Heels got a great opportunity to get some rest in anticipation for their Week 4 matchup against Notre Dame.

The Fighting Irish barely survived against California to pick up their first victory of the season (and the first of Marcus Freeman’s tenure as the program’s head coach). Now, Notre Dame hopes that they can get the better of the Tar Heels as they make the trip to Chapel Hill next weekend.

We’ll have to wait and see, but the injury status of wide receivers Josh Downs and Antoine Green will be something to keep an eye on. If North Carolina can get one, or both, back on the field, that would be a tremendous boost to an offense that has already gotten off to a hot start this season.

This week, the details of this anticipated matchup were announced, as the two programs will square off starting at 3:30 EST. The television broadcast will be aired live on ABC.

With their starting quarterback out for the season, we saw the Fighting Irish rely heavily on the run game this past week. If the Tar Heels want to win this one, they must slow down the duo of Audric Estime and Chris Tyree, who combined for 142 rushing yards in the victory over California.

Hope everyone got some much-needed rest (and didn’t have a lot of stress!) during the bye week. It’s now time to gear up for some more UNC football.
