For the second consecutive week, it appears that the UNC football program will be without standout wide receiver Josh Downs.

After missing last week’s victory against Appalachian State, it doesn’t appear that Josh Downs will be suiting up for the UNC football program in their upcoming contest against Georgia State.

According to Matt Zenitz of On3, Downs is expected to once again be sidelined as the Tar Heels take the field on Saturday afternoon. The junior wide receiver is still dealing with a “lower-body injury” that he suffered in the program’s Week 0 contest.

Of course, the Tar Heels are better when Downs is on the field. However, Mack Brown and company are not going to rush him back, as they want to assure that he’s fully ready to go upon return.

With a bye week looming before a big showdown with Notre Dame, the hope is that Downs will be ready to return to the field by then. Until he returns, Drake Maye will look to rely on his other targets to get the job done offensively.
