UNC Basketball: Puff Johnson Holding Youth Basketball Shooting Camp
By Mark DeMott
The UNC Basketball forward will be sharing his knowledge and experience with young basketball fans in Gaston, North Carolina.
Another UNC Basketball player will be holding a basketball camp for young fans.
Following the lead of Armando Bacot and RJ Davis, Puff Johnson has announced that he will be hosting a “shooting camp” this upcoming weekend.
According to the Gaston Gazette, Johnson will be holding his camp on Saturday, August 20 at Gaston Christian School in Gaston, North Carolina. There is a session for third-grade students through middle schoolers in the morning and a high school session that will follow in the afternoon.
Fans can sign up at accbarnstorming.com and cost per camper is $115, which includes a photo and autograph along with the instruction.
If fans are looking for shooting tips from any of the Tar Heels, Johnson is a safe choice. Although he shot just 6-26 from deep last season, Johnson was known as a sharpshooter coming out of high school. It is very likely that his shooting percentage will improve significantly with more minutes and a better rhythm on the court this season.
The Moon Township, Pennsylvania native is not the only member of his family who knows a thing or two about shooting, as his older brother Cam proved during his two years in Chapel Hill.
The older Johnson has become quite the NBA star for the Phoenix Suns, finishing with the 4th highest 3 point percentage in the association last season and finishing third in 6th man of the year voting. It’s likely the younger Johnson brother will be sharing some tips he has learned from his older sibling with the campers this weekend.
It is becoming very apparent that North Carolina is emerging as one of the top basketball programs when it comes to NIL opportunities. With a passionate fanbase and likeable, exciting players, it is not surprising that the members of the UNC basketball program are making the most of the NIL era. Events, where young fans are given the chance to meet athletes like Puff Johnson, are one of the many benefits of these new NCAA rules and regulations that have been put into place.
