UNC basketball standout Armando Bacot continues to give back to his community, as he’s set to host his second annual basketball camp.

What better way to kick off the school year than to attend an Armando Bacot-run basketball camp!

For the second consecutive year, the UNC basketball standout will be hosting a basketball camp in his hometown of Richmond, Virginia. This year’s camp, presented by DTLR and Davies Entertainment, is scheduled to take place at the Ben Wallace Gym on September 3 and 4 and is free for all participants.

Last year’s event was a very successful one, as it provided campers with a unique experience both on and off the court.  Along with participating in basketball-related activities, campers were also provided with free haircuts, school supplies, and bookbags to prepare them for their first day of classes.

This year, the event will take place over a two-day period. According to Christie Lomax, Bacot’s mother, in just a few days, camp registration was closed due to an overwhelming amount of campers who signed up to participate this year.

Over a dozen sponsors, including some well-known brands such as Dick’s Sporting Goods and Jimmy’s Seafood, have teamed up with the UNC basketball standout to help run this year’s event. Lomax went on to add that more sponsors have recently joined in on helping out.

Bacot has one of the biggest platforms in college sports, as he’s one of the most well-known players in his respective sport. Not only has he benefitted from the new NIL rules but has used this as an opportunity to give back to his community, serving as a great example of how student-athletes can use their Name, Image, and Likeness to also benefit others.

Through this event, not only is Bacot sharing some of his basketball knowledge with the campers, but he’s also encouraging the importance of school as well. Bacot, along with the various sponsors of the camp, is going above and beyond to ensure that these children are properly equipped for the school year ahead!
