Nolan Hauser

Apparently, Mack Brown is known to wait before extending offers to placekickers.

In the case of Nolan Hauser, it seems that this rising junior is an exception to the legendary head coach’s rule.

According to 247Sports, Hauser was extended an offer from the Tar Heels back on June 8. He is rated among the best kickers in the entire country, as Chris Sailer Kicking has him currently as a five-star player at his position.

Based on their evaluation of Hauser, you can understand why the Tar Heels wasted no time extending him an offer:

"Nolan is a phenomenal high school kicking prospect. He is a great looking athlete with a live leg. Nolan does an outstanding job on field goal, a strength. He hits a pure ball off the ground, get the ball up well and easily has 50+ yard range. One of the most consistent FG Kickers we have seen in a few years. His kickoffs are strong. Nolan drives the ball 65+ yards with 3.9+ hang time. Also a more than capable punter. A competitor who thrives under pressure. I look forward to seeing what the future holds. Nolan is set to dominate Vegas XL in May and will challenge for a TOP 12 Camp Invitation. He is a fine young man who is always a great pleasure to work with. One of the hardest workers out there. Excellent prospect. OFFER NOW!!!"

Kickers are a very important piece to a successful football team, and Hauser may simply end up being the best available one in his graduating class. Given that Brown extended an offer so early (which isn’t something he’d typically do), you can sense that the UNC football recruiting team really wants to make sure they find a way to bring him to Chapel Hill.
