Five-star guard Ian Jackson has provided an update on his recruitment, and discussed the UNC basketball program as one of the teams heavily in the mix.

To no surprise, five-star Class of 2024 prospect Ian Jackson is drawing a lot of attention from some of the nation’s top college programs.

A few days ago, it was reported that Jackson, the No. 2 overall player in his graduating class, according to 24Sports Composite, was starting to figure out which schools he’d like to visit. Among those schools was the UNC basketball program, as they seem to be right in the mix to potentially land a commitment from him.

Jackson elaborated even more on his recruitment in a recent exclusive interview with Alex Karamanos of The Circuit, as he stated that the Tar Heels were one of six schools that have been “consistently reaching out” to him.

In the interview, Karamanos asked Jackson what his feelings were towards his recent offers from both North Carolina and Kentucky. Here’s what the Bronx, New York native had to say about these Blue Blood offers that have been extended to him:

"“That was definitely something different. I don’t think I really understood it until it really hit me. Just being able to be recognized by those programs and having them want me to come to their school. They think I can do great things at their schools. It is very humbling and I appreciate coaches from each program.”"

The 6-foot-4, 180-pound shooting guard has previously mentioned that reclassifying could be an option for him. Even if he does decide to enter the Class of 2023, the Tar Heels should still be heavy players in his sweepstakes, as he’ll be an impact player for them in whichever class he decides to be a part of.

Hubert Davis and the UNC basketball program are making every effort to land a commitment from Jackson, and are doing anything they can to convince him that Chapel Hill is the right place for him.
