The UNC basketball program already has commitments from two of the top 14 ranked players in the Class of 2023. Could another one be on the way?

Head coach Courtney Banghart and the UNC basketball program have put together an impressive recruiting class for next year.

Currently, the Tar Heels have verbal commitments from Ciera Toomey (No. 4 player in Espn W’s rankings), Reniya Kelly (No. 14) as well as Rylee Grays (No. 72). Could another commitment be on the way for North Carolina?

The UNC basketball program may not be done with this class, as they are among the four finalists for post-player Aalyah Del Rosario, the No. 8 overall ranked player (and second-highest ranked post player) in the Class of 2023.

As her commitment inches closer to the finish line, the Nashville, Tennessee native is down to LSU, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee as the schools she’s still considering.

Del Rosario has had quite a journey so far. She was born in Texas but was raised in the Dominican Republic. She returned to the United States to attend high school at Trenton Catholic in New Jersey but was forced to transfer when her school closed for good.

Looking for a new school to call home, Del Rosario ended up at The Webb School in Bell Buckle, Tennessee. Although she has consistently moved throughout her life, one thing hasn’t changed: her ability to be a tremendous impact player in the post.

Earning a commitment from Del Rosario would be a major addition to the UNC basketball program. She would not only add to an already impressive recruiting class but would also fit in nicely with the roster that Banghart and the Tar Heels continue to put into place.
