Over the last few days, the UNC football recruiting team has extended scholarship offers to two players who are currently verbally committed elsewhere.

Ty Adams and Ayden Duncanson have a few things in common.

For starters, they are both members of the Class of 2023 and are rated by 247Sports as three-star prospects. Coming out of the same state (Georgia), both are defensive players, as Adams is listed as a cornerback while Duncanson is a safety prospect.

Over the last few months, both players have verbally committed to East Carolina. Yes, they are projected to be teammates in college, but will it be for the Pirates?

If the UNC football recruiting team has any say, both players will be suiting up in Chapel Hill.

Within a span of two days, both players received scholarship offers from the University of North Carolina.

Let’s start with Duncanson, who committed to ECU very recently on August 1. Just 9 calendar days later, the 6-foot-2, 185-pound safety picked up his offer from the Tar Heels, which could lead him to ultimately re-evaluate his original commitment.

Duncanson is currently rated by 247Sports Composite as the No. 96 overall player in Georgia, as well as the No. 78 overall prospect in his graduating class.

Adams, a 5-foot-11, 175-pound cornerback, has been committed to ECU for a little longer than Duncanson. His commitment to the Pirates came on June 19, with his official offer from Mack Brown and his staff coming in just a week shy of two months since his original announcement.

The Swainsboro, Georgia native is rated a little lower than Duncanson, as 247Sports Composite has him as the state’s No. 128 ranked prospect. He is also considered to be the No. 100 overall player at his respective position.

Time will tell if the latest offer from the UNC football recruiting team is enough to make these two three-star prospects reconsider their options. However it ends up, this will be an interesting storyline to keep an eye on as we await more information from both prospects.
