UNC Football: Antoine Green suffers collarbone injury
The UNC football program may be without fifth-year senior Antoine Green for a while due to an injury suffered during training camp.
We’re still a few weeks away from opening kickoff, but the UNC football program already has a key injury concern to keep an eye on.
As reported by multiple sources, fifth-year senior Antoine Green has been sidelined due to an “upper-body injury.” It is said to be a collarbone injury that is keeping Green off the field at this point of training camp.
The injury occurred on Saturday when the Tar Heels conducted a scrimmage at Kenan Stadium. At this point, the severity of the injury hasn’t been announced, but North Carolina is expecting to see Green on the field at some point this season.
After a solid 2021 season, Green came into this season looking to continue being a steady contributor at the wide receiver position. While playing in all 13 games last season, the Florida native was second on the team in receptions (31), receiving yards (612), and receiving touchdowns (5), while also finishing No. 12 nationally with his 19.7 yards per reception average.
As a deep threat option, Green’s absence would be a blow to the UNC football program’s offense. If he is forced to miss an extended period of time, some other Tar Heels wide receivers, such as possibly true freshman Andre Greene Jr. among others, will be called upon to help fill the void.
At this point, the UNC football program hopes that the injury is not too serious and that one of their top pass-catchers can return to the field in the near future.
