Looking to earn a more prominent role in the Washington Commanders’ offense, former UNC football standout Dyami Brown has impressed early on in camp.

The first season of former UNC football standout Dyami Brown’s NFL career didn’t go as planned for the talented wide receiver.

After the Washington Commanders selected him with their third-round pick, Brown struggled to find a consistent role within the team’s offense. After back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons in Chapel Hill, the former Tar Heel recorded just 12 catches throughout his rookie campaign.

Now heading into his second season in the NFL, Brown is looking to get back to the production level that he put together during his college days, and quite frankly is off to a great start.

As part of the Commanders’ third practice of training camp, it was Brown who made the “play of the day.”

During 11-on-11 drills, new quarterback Carson Wentz spotted Brown running down the left sideline. In 1-on-1 coverage against cornerback Kendall Fuller, Wentz took a chance with this matchup and appeared to throw the ball just a bit short.

However, Brown adjusted nicely to the football, and out-muscled Fuller to make a very impressive catch that sure caught the attention of not only his teammates but the coaching staff as well.

His rookie season was “humbling,” in his own words, but now the former UNC football standout knows what to expect heading into his second professional season.

"“A lot of it is just understanding what’s going on. You come in and you’re still learning. Once you’ve been through a whole season and a whole offseason, you kind of understand everything that’s going on and what’s going to happen, so you know what to expect.”"

While looking to find a bigger role in the team’s offensive scheme, it’s important for players to showcase their skillset during training camp. With some experience under his belt, Brown is looking to prove that he could be a reliable target for Wentz and the Commanders moving forward.
