The UNC basketball recruiting team has made contact with three-star guard Trey Parker, a player whose recruitment has heated up recently.

Throughout the Nike EYBL circuit, Trey Parker was putting on a show, as he led all players in scoring heading into this week’s Peach Jam event.

The North Carolina native was averaging an impressive 21.1 points and 3.4 assists per game and has certainly started to draw more interest from college coaches across the country.

At the moment, Parker has offers from Kansas State, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, NC A&T, Hampton, and New Mexico. Could the UNC basketball recruiting team be the next program to make their offer?

During Peach Jam, Parker caught up with Jamie Shaw of On3. The rising senior told Shaw that the Tar Heels were one of two teams to contact him the day prior.

"“North Carolina and Arizona both just called me yesterday. They said they liked my game and were impressed with how I brought my team back for the win. They said they knew I could score it but were impressed with how I play without scoring the ball.”"

Based on his quote, it makes sense why North Carolina has expressed interest. To succeed in the Tar Heels system, guards must be able to score the basketball but need to do other things as well. Given that Parker has showcased his many abilities on the court, it’s no surprise that more interest is starting to accumulate.

Parker is rated as the No. 8 overall prospect out of the state of North Carolina, according to 247Sports Composite. To add to that, On3 currently tabs Parker as their No. 72 overall player in the Class of 2023.

With only one player committed to the UNC basketball recruiting Class of 2023, expect more movement from Hubert Davis and his staff over the next few weeks and months. It’s very likely that more prospects will be added to this class before it’s all said and done.
