After his season with the UNC baseball program ended abruptly, standout Mac Horvath returned to action in grand style during summer ball.

Following Game 1 of the Chapel Hill Super Regional, the UNC baseball program lost a key member of their everyday lineup.

Sophomore third baseman Mac Horvath underwent emergency appendectomy surgery, forcing him to miss the remainder of the Tar Heels tournament action. Although Scott Forbes and the Tar Heels certainly missed his presence, fortunately, Horvath is doing well after undergoing the unexpected surgery.

As he prepares for next season, Horvath has been cleared to play during summer ball action and has made an impact right away.

Just 33 days after his surgery, Horvath had a big-time moment for the Bourne Braves of the Cape Cod League.

With his team trailing 2-0 in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Rochester, Minnesota native came up with the bases loaded. In just his third game back, Horvath blasted a game-winning walk-off grand slam, one that Tar Heels baseball fans will definitely want to see!

Horvath wasn’t done, as he followed up Thursday night’s home run with another one on Friday night!

Talk about not missing a beat!

With the MLB Draft looming this weekend, it’s important to note that Horvath is draft-eligible. Organizations around the league have been contacting his advisor to see what the price would be for him to sign, but at the current moment, Horvath has stated that his intention at the moment is to return to Chapel Hill for another season.

The minor setback for Horvath has led to the start of a major comeback, as these last two games are a sign of things to come for the UNC baseball standout.
