The UNC women’s basketball program has found out who they will match up against as part of this year’s ACC/Big Ten Challenge.

The annual ACC/Big Ten Challenge provides teams from both conferences the opportunity to play a quality non-conference game early on in the season.

In its 15th season, you could definitely make the case that the UNC women’s basketball game will be the headliner of the event.

Coach Courtney Banghart and the Tar Heels will be on the road for this event for the second consecutive season, as they’ll match up with Indiana on December 1. This battle will come just a day after the men’s team also makes the trip to Indiana for their ACC/Big Ten Challenge contest.

As both the Hoosiers and Tar Heels are coming off Sweet 16 appearances, expectations will be high for this matchup. Currently, ESPN’s 2022-2023 Way-Too-Early Top 25 has Indiana at No. 12, while North Carolina is right behind them at No. 13.

There’s not much history between these two women’s basketball programs, but the Tar Heels have had some success against the Hoosiers in the past. In two prior contests, North Carolina won both, with the last meeting occurring during the 1988-1989 season in Chapel Hill.

Expectations are very high for both programs heading into the season, and this game could be a major early-season boost for the program that comes out on top. Let’s not forget: it’s games like these that help teams build up their resumes for when Selection Sunday rolls around.

Clear your schedules for November 30 and December 1. Those consecutive days will be filled with some must-watch UNC men’s and women’s basketball.
