Four-star 2023 guard Jamie Kaiser continues to rise up the rankings. Would a “dream offer” from the UNC basketball program alter his recruitment?

Back in March, four-star prospect Jamie Kaiser decided to give up football to focus on the sport of basketball.

As his recruitment starts to heat up, it seems like that was a very good decision for the Burke, Virginia native.

Kaiser, a 2023 student-athlete who attends Bishop Ireton High School, is ranked by 247Sports Composite as the No. 2 overall player out of the state of Virginia. He’s also considered the No. 21 ranked wing player in his graduating class.

The 6-foot-6 wing player has received interest from a number of schools and already has taken official visits to Harvard, Maryland, Virginia, and Wisconsin.

However, would an offer from the UNC basketball program completely change the landscape of his recruitment?

In an interview with On3, Kaiser mentioned that the North Carolina coaching staff has talked to his high school coach, but also noted that he hasn’t heard directly from them yet.

When asked about the Tar Heels, Kaiser stated that North Carolina would be a “dream offer” for him:

"“I heard that UNC would come to a couple of my games. I’ve not talked to them directly yet, but my high school coach has talked with them. I went to Burke (VA) Lake Braddock High, and Hubert Davis went there. I’m friends with his nephew. That would be a dream offer, but I am very happy with what I have now and very appreciative of what I have.”"

Now, there are some connections between Kaiser and head coach Hubert Davis.

For starters, Kaiser originally attended Lake Braddock High in Virginia. The school may sound familiar, given that Davis is an alum of it. Additionally, the rising senior has also stated that he is friends with Davis’ nephew, as he has a personal connection with someone in the Tar Heels head coach’s family.

Given the way he describes his game, Kaiser seems like a natural fit for the UNC basketball program. He is a bigger guard who not only takes pride in his offensive consistency but thrives on being a tough presence on the defensive side of the ball. He’s also looking for a college that likes to run the floor, which is something the UNC basketball program does very well.

Kaiser is an interesting name to keep an eye on over the next couple of months. As Davis and his staff look to add to their recruiting Class of 2023, Kaiser may ultimately end up receiving that “dream offer” that he desires.
