UNC Football earns commitment from Christian Hamilton
It was a great day for the UNC football program, as four-star wide receiver Christian Hamilton became the third player of the day to commit to the Tar Heels.
Christian Hamilton gave the UNC football program quite the scare!
As part of his commitment announcement at Hickory Ridge High School, the four-star wide receiver initially stated that he would be joining the Clemson Tigers. Hamilton revealed a Clemson t-shirt under his jacket, which was a surprise to essentially everyone who was watching (including his family!)
However, it was all a joke, as Hamilton quickly revealed that he was instead, heading to Chapel Hill.
Hamilton’s commitment caps off a great day for Mack Brown and the Tar Heels, as they earned three commitments from the Class of 2023. Although Hamilton’s joke had to scare them a bit, this is another major addition to the program’s “Jordan Class.”
North Carolina has been in the mix for Hamilton for quite some time now. The Tar Heels offered Hamilton after his strong freshman season of high school, and have worked tirelessly to ensure that they received a commitment from one of their top recruiting targets.
Hamilton, who played both wide receiver and defensive back at Hickory Ridge, selected North Carolina over finalists Clemson, Penn State, and South Carolina. Overall, the 6-foot receiver had over two dozen scholarship offers to choose from.
Currently, Hamilton ranks as the No. 8 overall player coming out of the state of North Carolina (according to 247Sports). He is also viewed as the No. 30 overall wide receiver prospect in the Class of 2023.
With Hamilton’s commitment, North Carolina now has 12 players that have announced their intention to join the Tar Heels. Barring any other news, this day will go down as a great one for the UNC football program.
