UNC Basketball: Theo Pinson returning to Mavericks
The former UNC basketball standout has agreed to a one-year deal to return to the Dallas Mavericks for the 2022-2023 season.
Dallas Mavericks fans…. he’s backkkkk!
According to ESPN Senior NBA Insider Adrian Wojnarowski, former UNC basketball standout Theo Pinson is returning to the Mavericks. The reported deal is expected to be for one season.
The 26-year-old appeared in 19 games for the Mavericks during the 2021-2022 season. He averaged 2.5 points per game while playing just under eight minutes per contest.
Although he didn’t see much playing time last season, Pinson became a valuable asset to the team’s locker room. Even though he is no longer eligible for a two-way contract, the Mavericks made him a priority this offseason given his impact on the team’s culture.
The Mavericks believe that the former Tar Heel still has room to develop. Given his skillset, Pinson certainly has the ability to impact the game in a variety of ways.
For younger athletes, if you ever questioned the importance of being a good teammate, look no further than Theo Pinson. He’s always been a team-first guy, something that has helped him stick around in the NBA thus far.
Now that he’s locked into the Mavericks’ roster, this could be the year that Pinson earns the chance to play a bigger role in the team’s rotation.
Even when he’s not on the court, Pinson (along with his sideline celebrations) are certainly must-see television!
