UNC Basketball: Larry Miller to be inducted into College Basketball HOF

UNC basketball legend Larry Miller will become the 13th Tar Heel ever to be inducted into the NABC College Basketball Hall of Fame.

The UNC basketball program will be well-represented at the National Collegiate Basketball Hall of Fame ceremony.

Former North Carolina star Larry Miller is among the nine-member Class of 2022, which will be enshrined on November 20 in Kansas City as part of NABC’s annual Hall of Fame Weekend. He’ll become just the 13th Tar Heel ever to earn this prestigious honor.

Miller’s career resume in Chapel Hill speaks for itself. During his time at North Carolina (from 1965 to 1968), Miller played an instrumental role in leading the Tar Heels (under the direction of Dean Smith) to back-to-back Final Four appearances in 1967 and 1968.

He still serves as the only two-time Atlantic Coast Conference Player of the Year in UNC basketball history and is one of just three players in conference history to win both the ACC Player of the Year and ACC Tournament MVP honors in back-to-back years.

The former Tar Heel legend will join some elite UNC basketball company once he’s inducted. Here’s a list of the North Carolina members who are already in the National Collegiate Basketball Hall of Fame:

Miller will not be the only Tar Heel honored this year, as former head coach Roy Williams will also be formally honored. Williams, along with fellow coach Jim Calhoun, were among the Founding Class of 2006 but will be recognized along with this year’s class.

The rest of the National Collegiate Basketball Hall of Fame Class of 2022 includes Richard Hamilton, Frank Selvy of Furman, Jimmy Walker, John Beilein, Jerry Krause, and Lon Kruger.

This year’s induction ceremony is scheduled to take place on November 20, 2022.
