How did UNC basketball commits G.G. Jackson and Simeon Wilcher do during the first day of the annual NBPA Top 100 camp?

The NBPA Top 100 camp is being held this week in Orlando, Florida. This camp has hundreds of the top prospects in the country, ranging from the classes of 2023 to 2025, on-site competing against one another in front of college coaches and even NBA scouts.

This year, the UNC basketball program is well-represented at this event, as both G.G. Jackson and Simeon Wilcher are among the players competing.

Both future Tar Heels were standout performers on the first day of the camp, which kicked off on Wednesday.

Jackson was part of Game Set 1, which kicked off at 10:00 AM. After watching the South Carolina native play, Senior National Recruiting Expert Joe Tipton of On3 put out this tweet that will certainly excite Tar Heels fans.

In On3’s live blog about the first day of the camp, Tipton added this about what he saw from Jackson on Wednesday morning:

"5-star PF GG Jackson is doing it all for his team. Bringing the ball up the floor, facilitating, and knocked down a three. He is playing with confidence and encouraging his teammates."

To add to this, Eric Bossi of 247Sports noted that Jackson was certainly looking like the No. 1 overall player in his graduating class:

"Before the summer ends, GG Jackson is going to have to face some competition for the No. 1 spot in the class of 2023. On Wednesday morning, he looked like he could be up to the task against any challenger. The North Carolina commit who hails from South Carolina was all over the floor and showed off many of the tools needed for a modern day four man at the highest level. He got off the floor quick to sweep the glass in and out of his area on both ends of the floor, showed the ability to create off the dribble and while being defended by size and length, showed that he could get to his spot, rise and swish home tough jumpers. For the game, Jackson finished with 11 points and 10 rebounds and was impressive on both ends of the floor."

There was also his highlight video of Jackson, created by Ball Is Life, that shows off some of the future Tar Heels’ basketball skills.

As for Wilcher, he was one of the standouts during Game Set 2. The Roselle, New Jersey native finished with 11 points and three rebounds, as he caught the attention of Jamie Shaw of On3.

"4-star PG Simeon Wilcher is aggressive getting into the paint. Making good reads and showing off his athleticism, he’s been running the team."

Based on Shaw’s statement, Wilcher is doing the things that make lead guards successful in Chapel Hill. He’s an explosive player who can impact the game in many ways, as he’s showing early on during this camp.

It was a great first day for both future UNC basketball players, as they’ll look to continue their impressive play as the NBPA Top 100 camp continues.
